Two other properties of color make an enormous difference in any color scheme. Value is the lightness or darkness of a color. For instance, navy is a dark value of blue. Intensity or saturation is the brightness of a color or put another way, it's the force of the color. For example, a full force red or a full intensity red is hard to live with.
