Art can add interest to a room, or it can just fill up empty space. The difference is in how and where you group those works you decide to hang. Follow these easy pointers to make the most of your art finds, whether free, budget, or knock-your-socks-off expensive.

A fireplace is always a focal point in a room. If you want to add more drama to the fireplace by hanging art over the mantle or firebox, a good rule of thumb is to make the art grouping approximately the same size as the fireplace opening. You can fill the space with one big piece or several small pieces that together visually read as big.
