Definition: Primary colors are those that cannot be made from mixing other colors. Instead, primary colors are the source of other colors. The primary colors are red, blue, and yellow. Mixing red and blue makes violet, while mixing red and yellow makes orange. Mixing yellow and blue results in green. Usually primary colors are too strong to be used full strength in a color scheme, but as an accent, they can be striking.
