For fabulous ways to brighten your room and add a little style, look no further than your pantry. Those jars and bottles that once held food or even liquor can be recycled into useful and beautiful containers than will enhance any room. All you need is a little soap and water to start.
- Bottles with interesting shapes, old or new, make perfect vases for fresh flowers. And if you can't afford flowers, just fill the vases with colorful water to add a bright accent. Combine water and food coloring to come up with your favorite color combination
- An old cookie jar that has lost it's lid makes a wonderful holder for kitchen utensils. Just load all your whisks, mixing spoons, and spatulas in the jar and set beside your stove.
- Small wide jars are perfect for the bathroom. They can hold small soaps or creams in style. Use the lid as a pattern to cut a circle from the front of a greeting card or wrapping paper. Glue to the top and edge with a scrap of lace.
- Use jars that held baby food to hold office supplies. Pushpins, paper clips, and rubber bands are keep organized and within reach with these small spacesaving jars. Just paint the lid any bright color and glue large vintage buttons to the top to make an attractive office accessory.
- Baby food jars can also be perfect for holding potpourri for drawers and closets. Paint the lid and use a nail to punch holes in it. The jar will add scent to your space and can easily be renewed or discarded when no longer needed.
- Large jars can be make into canisters for kitchen staples. Flour, sugar, beans, and pastas can be kept fresh - plus the jars content can be easily seen.
So if you need new accessories, just empty a few jars. You will have a new vase and your family will have something "interesting" for supper!
