Author Amy Azzarito, managing editor of Design*Sponge, has put together a fabulous resource within these pages that perfectly blends the past with the present. Complete with entertaining essays, whimsical illustrations and gorgeous DIY projects that explore the connection between decorative arts history and present-day design trends, this book is not only a DIY staple and a wealth of decorating history but also looks pretty enough for a coffee table.

Instructions are easy to understand and make the DIY projects in this book simple for beginners. Azzarito also worked with some of the biggest names in design to create many of the projects featured, so you can use this book to add designer goodies to your home at a fraction of the retail price. For example, build Studio Choo's greenhouse coffee table, Todd Oldman's Chinoiserie pedestal, or a Jasperware headboard designed by Eddie Ross.

Contributors also include Jonathan Adler, Erica Domesek, Grace Bonney and many more.
