If you've ever tried to paint directly over spackling, you've found out the hard way what "flashing" is. Paint that includes primer has become a hot commodity in recent DIY days, so it didn't surprise me when I received 3M's press release about their newest product, 3M Patch Plus Primer, that promises to eliminate the extra step of priming after spackling.
3M Patch Plus Primer also promises all of the benefits of a lightweight spackling (quick drying time!) with the strength of a heavyweight spackling. Ideal for use on surfaces such as drywall, plaster, wood, stucco and concrete, Patch Plus Primer should be ready-to-paint in 30 minutes.
At $5.99 for a small 8-oz container, 3M Patch Plus Primer doesn't come cheap, but since I'm not a professional painter and don't go through bucket loads of spackling compound, I would be willing to pay this price in order to skip a step. I recently tried it out on my wood windows and plaster walls with great success, so I'm happy to recommend this new product to you. For more information, visit 3MDIY.com.More Wall Inspiration
