Decorating Poll: 2012 Tired Decorating Trends

By January 2, 2013

Follow me on:

Probably much like you, I'm a Pinterest surfer and a decorating-magazine reader, and I follow all of the latest blogs and DIY websites. Unfortunately because of the overlap of information and the huge popularity of certain decorating trends, I keep seeing a lot of the same things circling around and around in the decorating world.

In decorating, I do recognize that trends are usually trends because they look good and they work, but hey, the major overuse (and sometimes poor use) of a good idea is a great way to wear a good idea out!

Are you like me and tired of a few trends? If so, what is one - or more - decorating trend that you would like to see disappear in the New Year? Answer my poll below and share what you think!

If your tired trend isn't listed, be sure to leave me a comment and tell me what trend you are tired of. And happy decorating in 2013!

I love chalkboard paint and I’m still not sick of the farmhouse chic that’s still very popular these days. The things I hate in decorating are less trends and more what people think should go in a house. For example, I LOATHE granite countertops and oak cabinets in kitchens. I don’t like colorful backsplashes and cutesy country decor like wooden ducks and anything that’s been hand painted with cutesy country writing.

I don’t like bright colors on walls, especially yellow and I loathe the color red in dining rooms. I don’t like gaudy chandeliers.
