Due to the economic crisis, my family and I continue to cut back. I must admit that I am feeling it a bit this season. I actually enjoy living in a small home and don't mind following a tight budget, though cutting back on travel and gifts and other things that my children desire has been hard on my heart. (It's always hard on a mommy's heart when her children are affected.) But because I know many families have it far worse than me and my family, and I very thankful for the many blessings that we do have.
Not only do I love my small home, but I'm also naturally drawn to old and vintage items. I recently picked up a solid wood modern bench at an estate sale for 20 bucks, and I'm using it to display our children's Christmas books.
This (and the fabulous holiday decorating tips that Dr. Christmas recently sent me) inspired me to put together an article on creating Christmas decorations by repurposing old items, and I was delighted by all of the creativity that I stumbled across on the web.
May this inspire you to decorate on the cheap this Christmas season also, and to count your blessings, no matter how small they may be!
