Friday Feature: 2012 Pantone Color of the Year “Tangerine Tango”

By January 6, 2012

Follow me on:

Back in December, Pantone released their "Color of the Year," and hip-hip-hooray - it's one that I love! This year, Pantone's "Tangerine Tango" (or for those in the biz, color 17-1463) is predicted to be the hot new trend.

Nothing wrong with last year's color, Honeysuckle, but pink has never been my thing. (Though I have seen some amazing interiors that incorporate this color beautifully, I've never felt remotely tempted to work this color into my own home, even in my young daughter's room.)

Pantone describes Tangerine Tango as "an orange with a lot of depth to it ... reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset ... marrying the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy." Okay, whatever. I just call it reddish-orange, but use your own imagination when it comes to your own home.

To celebrate Friday, I've rounded up some fun home decorating ideas that celebrate, of all things, reddish-orange! Happy Friday, everyone!

Picnic Flatware Set, West Elm, $34

Orange Poof Ottoman, CB2, $89.95

Orange Twig Balls, Save On Crafts, $3.99/12

Original Watercolor, The Golden Trees/Etsy, $60

Chick Votive Holder, CB2, $7.95
